About Harry Pochin

I started working with Boatshed North Wales in January 2023.

I live on Anglesey with my partner Emily and black lab Goose. We are very much the active type, enjoying, watersports, snowsports, wild camping, and generally anything outdoors. We both love being on the water, whether it be a quick water ski after work or a crossing over to the Isle of Man. I am a complete petrol head, whether it be boats, cars, or tractors…. If it's got an engine, I can usually chat your socks off. My biggest passion aside from boats is Land Rovers, Emily would argue that between boats and Land Rovers she doesn't get to see a whole lot of me.

What did you do before working with Boatshed?
After completing a degree in Civil Engineering, I worked as a site engineer for a large construction company, whilst trying to get out on boats as much as I could in my free time. I then made the decision to integrate work and play by joining a Marine Engineering company, with the idea of spending a lot more time afloat. Reality soon took over the dream and rather than working on superyachts I was designing pile foundations for offshore structures. So then came my second big career move, which is where I find myself now. I moved to Anglesey, North Wales to join a small company offering boat charters, tour trips and excursions. When the opportunity came up for us to add Boatshed North Wales as a branch to our ever-expanding network, it seemed a natural move.

What attracted you to become part of the Boatshed team?
I believe there is a great opportunity in North Wales for a successful boat brokerage. I believe that Boatshed provides the best platform, user interface, service, backup, and customer experience to enable us to put this in place.

Are you a motorboater or a sailor?
My primary passion is large offshore ribs, I see them as the Land Rover Defenders of the sea and love nothing more than to be in big seas punching through large waves. I also have a passion for yachting, most of my sailing miles have been crewing on 'Festina Lente' a Discovery 55', a much-loved vessel owned by my grandfather.

What is your most memorable boating experience?
During a crossing from Anglesey to the Isle of Man on a Cheetah catamaran we were joined by a pod of minke whales which played with the boat for a good 20 mins before leaving us. The experience was magical and incredibly grounding.

Coming in a close second…… Would be sat on the front seat of Velocity traveling at 70kn for the very fast time. Velocity is our flagship tour boat, she is a 12m Rib, rigged with triple Yam 300's…. one fast set up!
